Tegra Premixed Concrete

Hazardous Nature:
Classified as hazardous according to the criteria of the Australian Safety and Compensation Council (ASCC)

Risk Phases:

  •  Harmful if inhaled.

  • Harmful in contact with skin and eyes.

  • Danger of serious damage to health by prolonged exposure through inhalation.

  • Harmful if swallowed.


Safety phases: 

  • Do not breathe dust.

  • Toxic if swallowed.

  • Do not empty into drains.

Product Name:
Premixed Concrete


Recommended Use:
Premixed concrete is used in a variety of applications in the building and construction industry. It can placed by chute, wheelbarrow, pump or kibble bucket.

Composition:
Normally Portland cement, flyash, crushed aggregates, sand, water, admixtures such as water reducers, set retarders/accelerators, plasticisers. Other ingredients maybe added such as: oxides, polypropylene or steel fibres, silica fume and waterproofing agents. MSDS Tegra Premixed Concrete Issue March 2013

Appearance:
The plasticity of concrete ranges from near liquid to a friable damp earthlike mixture. Commonly it has a porridge like appearance and grey in
colour. The addition of oxides may change the colour.

Handling:
As wet concrete is a heavy product an appropriate control of manual handling risk is required when barrowing, shovelling and placing wet concrete.


Inhalation:
If placing concrete in enclosed areas ensure adequate forced ventilation. Remove the source of contamination or move victim to fresh air if
irritation commences. In dusty applications use a respirator filter.

Skin Protection:
When handling wet concrete wear protective clothing, impervious boots, suitable gloves. Concrete must be washed off as soon as possible to
prevent burns. Remove heavily contaminated clothing and wash skin thoroughly with water, use mild soap if available and shower if necessary.

Eye Protection:
Avoid contact with eyes, safety glasses/goggles or face-shield should be worn. Flush eyes thoroughly with water while holding eyelids open long
enough to remove all traces.

Ingestion:
Unlikely in normal application. Avoid ingestion and wash hands before eating. May cause nausea and stomach cramps.

Environmental:
Forms an alkaline slurry when mixed with water, is persistent with low degradability, low mobility in a landfill situation.

Disposal:

  • Can be treated as common waste and should be disposed of in accordance with local authority guidelines.

  • Keep out of storm-water and sewer drains.

  • Prevent dust generation during disposal.
